Ellsworth, Oliver
(29 abr. 1745, Windsor, Conn., EE.UU.–26 nov. 1807, Windsor).

Político, diplomático y jurista estadounidense. Se desempeñó en el Congreso continental (1777–83) y fue coautor del compromiso de Connecticut (1787), que resolvió el tema de la representación en el congreso. En 1789 se convirtió en uno de los primeros senadores por Connecticut. Fue el principal autor de la ley judicial de 1789, que estableció el sistema federal de tribunales. Fue designado presidente de la Corte Suprema de los Estados Unidos de América en 1796. Su mala salud lo obligó a renunciar en 1800.
